I have always been a sort of an empath,

someone who feels deeply for others' situations—the person who offers a hug, an encouraging word, or a prayer because I genuinely want people to feel better, seen, valued, and included, always wanting people in the world around me to be a little happier.  

Affinité Gestures began simply because I wanted to give a meaningful gift to a very special couple, so they would know how much I appreciated them. Their response brought tears to my eyes as well as others'.  

After that, I had a thought, “What if I could have many more people feel seen and appreciated”? I began creating candles paired with original poems for whoever came to mine. I gave them away like candy, and the response was almost always the same: “Awwww.” People weren't responding to a candle. From the poems I’d written, people were responding to the realization that someone had taken the time to put into words what they meant to others. The candle complemented the atmosphere.  

That became the heart of Affinité Gestures. Then the idea grew. Why not help businesses communicate with employees that they are more than the work they perform? Why not let others use my passion to communicate with family members to know they have been more than a resource—they are loved and appreciated. I thought, what if realtors could let new homeowners know that they were more than a transaction, but the realtor was genuinely excited about the next chapter of their life?  

Affinité Gestures exists because I want people to feel seen, appreciated and remembered. The candle creates the atmosphere, but the words make the gift personal.
